Triund is the crown of Dharamshala. It is located in the laps of Dhauladhar mountain range and it has the perfect view of the Dhauladhar mountains on one side and Kangra valley on the other side. Triund is a popular trekking spot which attracts many tourists every year from all over the globe.

Triund trek can be described as a tranquil trek which can be easily accomplished by all age groups. Triund has an unequivocal byway which passes through a stunning forest of oak, deodar and rhododendron trees. Trek is fairly easy for the first five kilometers but the last one kilometer may require a bit of slog, the last one kilometer is popularly known as the “22 curves” as it has 22 tiring curves before you finally reach Triund. Along the way there are many small tea stalls where one can refresh during the hike. The trail is worth it as the panorama when you reach triund is awe-inspiring and exhilarating .Triund is come-at-able for most part of the year except for when the byway to triund is cut off by heavy snowfall in the months of Jan and Feb.

Itinerary of excursion

Day 1

1) Around10:00hrs transfer from Palampur to McLeodganj followed by room check in
2) In afternoon visit to Dalai lama temple and Monastery
3) Late afternoon sightseeing of Bhagsunaag temple and waterfall

Day 2

1) After breakfast at hotel, proceed to trek (apprx 5 hours)
2) Lunch at Triund, settle down in tents
3) Dinner and overnight stay at triund


Hiking to Triund

Day 3

1) Post breakfast trek further uphill to snowline
2) Trek down to McLeodganj
3) Free time for exploring markets
4) Transfer to Palampur MOI camp house and retire for the day
